Red Wolves Rugby Battles for Championship

The top-ranked Arkansas State University Red Wolves Rugby Club travels to Marietta, Ga., today to face the second-ranked Life University Eagles. The winner of this match will be the Mid-South Conference champion and gain home-field advantage for the first-round of the playoffs for the national club title.

As it was reported earlier this week in the Arkansas State University Herald student newspaper:

“As any other match, we will try to play to our potential and play as well as we can for as much of the match as we are capable of.  Every match we have had conference play has been vitally important and this one is no different. We will want to play to our strengths and try our best to not allow the opposition to play to theirs,” head coach Alex Houser said.

“We are playing a team that is very capable of beating us, so we must come into the match mentally ready and prepared for the physicality of the match. We need to be ready to compete for 80 hard minutes and contest every facet of the match,” Houser continued.

The Red Wolves played Life University five weeks ago in a match at Jonesboro. At the time, Life was the nation’s top college rugby club and the Red Wolves were entering as No. 2, according to USA Rugby. The Red Wolves won 28-22.
