CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears hit their first two home runs of the season and romped past Mississippi Valley State 19-3 on Tuesday afternoon at Bear Stadium.

Senior right fielder Forrestt Allday, this week’s Southland Conference Hitter of the Week, hit a three-run blast to left center in the seventh inning. Junior first baseman Doug Votolato had another three-run shot to right field in the third inning as UCA tallied 11 hits off four Delta Devil pitchers.

Allday finished 3 for 5 with 4 RBI and 2 runs scored and made a spectacular diving catch in right field. Votolato was 1 for 3 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. UCA starter Ethan McKinzie went six innings, allowing 5 hits and no earned runs for his first victory of the season.

UCA (7-1), which is a perfect 7-0 at home this season, fell behind 1-0 in the second inning but quickly overcame that deficit with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Nick Rougeau had a sacrifice fly, Logan Moon scored on a balk and Allday had an RBI single.

Votolato made the lead 6-1 with one swing of the bat in the third inning before UCA got one more run in the fourth when Blake Marchal scored on a double-play groundout was a leadoff walk. MVSU got another unearned run in the sixth but UCA answered with two of its own in the bottom of the inning. Michael Marietta’s sacrifice fly scored Allday and Marchal came in on a wild pitch for a 9-2 lead.

After Allday’s home run in the seventh made it 12-2, the Bears explode for seven more runs in the eighth inning. Tyler Langley, Rougeau, Garrett Bock, Chris Townsend, Jonathan Davis and Sam Moon contributed RBI in the frame.

Seth Milliorn and Trey Lacy had two hits each for MVSU (1-8).

The Bears and Delta Devils will play again at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
