FAYETTEVILLE – Sophomore Devon Wallace was named the National Player of the Week by CollegeSportsMadness.com for her exceptional performance in Arkansas’ sweep of No. 22 Georgia.

Wallace, a Double Oak, Texas native, went 5-for-8 (.625) in the three games last weekend against No. 22 Georgia. She homered in all three games of the series, including a walk-off grand slam in game two. She also scored three runs and knocked in seven RBI in the series.

The 2012 SEC Freshman of the Year walked three times against the Bulldogs, increasing her walk total to an NCAA-leading 46. She also leads the SEC this season with a .636 on base percentage and 44 runs scored. The leadoff hitter for the Hogs is third in the SEC with a .429 average and tied for fourth with 12 homeruns.

Her outstanding performance helped lead Arkansas to a series sweep of Georgia. This was the first time that Arkansas had swept a ranked team since March, 2000. This was also the first time in the history of the program that the Razorbacks completed a three-game sweep of Georgia.

Wallace and her teammates return to action on Tuesday when they host the Mississippi Valley State Devilettes. Game one of the midweek doubleheader is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Bogle Park. After the midweek games, Arkansas plays host to No. 13 LSU in a three game, weekend series.
