DANVILLE, Ky. – The Hendrix College football team could not handle Centre College’s rushing attack, as the host Colonels (6-2, 3-1) defeated the Warriors (3-5, 1-3) 49-20 at Farris Stadium in Southern Athletic Association play on Saturday.

Centre rushed for 491 yards and seven touchdowns. Harry Meisner was responsible for 254 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, both school records. The running back had four scores in the first hal, as the Colonels built a 35-7 lead at halftime. Amoh Kumengisa added a touchdown in the second quarter. Hendrix freshman quarterback ran a keeper six yards into the endzone in the second.

Meisner and Kumengisa both scored in the third quarter, giving the Colonels a 49-7 lead. Frye recorded a five-yard touchdown run to cap a 12-play, 97-yard drive with nine seconds left in the third quarter. With one minute left in the game, Frye connected with freshman receiver Taylor Tibbits on a 68-yard score.

Centre recorded 87 total plays for 612 yards. Hendrix ran 72 plays for 372 yards.

Frye went 25-of-39 for 273 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions and had 14 carries for 49 yards and two scores. Freshman Travus McMahon caught seven passes for 59 yards and Tibbits had six receptions for 97 yards.

Colonel quarter Heath Haden was 10-of-16 for 117 yards and a pick.

Defensively, redshirt freshman safety Reid Cone recorded a season-high 16 tackles and broke up a pass. Freshman linebacker John Donald came up with nine tackles and freshman corner back Mac Adkins had eight stops. Freshman safety Jake Steward had seven tackles, a 26-yard interception return and recovered a fumble. Ben Cunningham and Jake Falleur each had two tackles for loss.

Sam Spees led Centre with eight tackles and an interception. The Colonels registered four sacks and nine tackles for loss.

Hendrix will return home next Saturday to face Rhodes College. There will be a ceremony to dedicate Young-Wise Memorial Stadium before the game.
