ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- It all came down to the last minute in Arkadelphia on Saturday afternoon, as the Ouachita Lady Tigers (8-1) hosted the Lady Statesmen of Delta State (6-3).

The OBU Lady Tigers held the lead for much of the game, but a late run by Delta State stole the lead and gave them a chance for the victory. However, a late turnover from the Lady Statesmen sealed their fate, as Ouachita took a 75-72 victory and stretched their win streak to eight.

Monica Williams led the way in scoring, netting 22 points while also recording a double-double, with 13 rebounds. Kendra Coyle was a large part of the Lady Tigers victory as well, finishing with 19 points and making seven of her eight shots from the floor. Alexis Sharp and Nashia James were both pivotal in the win, dishing out four assists each.

Seneca Walton was called on for more than a third of Delta State’s points, as she finished with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Chelsey Rhodes finished the game with 13 points, while Randi Ball added 11. Walton, along with Williams, recorded a double-double, leading her team with 11 rebounds. Brittany Roberts contributed with a team-high four assists, while Ball was a defensive powerhouse, notching five steals.

The Lady Tigers shot 43.1 percent from the floor, while holding the Lady Statesmen to 40.6 percent. Although Ouachita turned the ball over three more times than Delta State, they were able to claim a victory. Another key stat lies in points in the paint, with Ouachita recording 44 to Delta State’s 26.

The Lady Tigers will travel to Bethany, Oklahoma for their next game, as they continue conference play against Southern Nazarene on January 3. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
