Razorbacks Close Home Tennis Season

FAYETTEVILLE – The No. 53 University of Arkansas men’s tennis team will close its 2013 home season play this weekend with three matches against No. 6 Tennessee, No. 4 Georgia and St. Louis University. Arkansas will take on the Volunteers Friday at 1 p.m. Sunday’s matches will begin with Georgia at 1 p.m. where the senior Razorbacks Mike Ward and Gregoire Lehmann will be honored, followed by a match with St. Louis at 6 p.m.

“I can’t believe it is already our senior weekend,” head coach Robert Cox said. “We need to come out strong this weekend and give our seniors a great send off.”

The Razorbacks had another solid weekend in doubles play with the No. 35 duo of Manfred Jeske and Mike Nott taking down the No. 21 pair in the country at South Carolina. Despite clinching the doubles point, Arkansas still dropped its match to No. 25 South Carolina. Arkansas now has an overall record of 12-12.

Tennessee is coming into this weekend with a record of 18-6 for its 2013 campaign. The No. 6 Volunteers are 5-3 in SEC play, dropping matches to Ole Miss, Florida and Georgia.

The Bulldogs currently have an overall record of 15-4 and lead the SEC with a conference record of 7-1. Georgia’s only conference loss was at Ole Miss.

Arkansas will close the weekend with St. Louis on Sunday evening. The Billikens have an overall record of 5-9 with their most recent victory over Dayton.
