The first day of National Signing Day brought 33 additions to the Henderson State football program.
This year’s class includes 12 players from Arkansas, 18 players from Texas, two from Florida and one from Louisiana.
The Reddies added 14 offensive players including five lineman and four wide receivers.
A total of 18 defensive players signed with seven lineman added to the team, along with five linebackers and six defensive backs.
Among those from Arkansas to join the Reddie football program are William Sewell, De’Madre Clark and Nick Houston.
Sewell, a 6-4, 305-pound, offensive lineman, helped lead Pulaski Academy to the 2014 Class 5 State Championship.
Another offensive lineman that should have an impact is Nick Houston of Van Buren. The 6-6, 322-pound Houston was selected to participate on the East team for the Arkansas High School All-Star game.
Clark (5-10, 185) was class 5A All-State running back at Blytheville High School. Last season he rushed for 1,621 yards and scored 32 touchdowns his senior year.
Offensive lineman Clifford Jackson (6-5, 325) of Hot Springs High School joins Sewell and Houston up front.
Jackson earned Class 5A All-State honors last season and was selected to participate on the West roster for Arkansas High School All-Star game.
J.B Minix is a versatile player that can play multiple positions. The 5-8, 170-pound product of Maumelle High School earned Class 5A All-State honors after rushing 92 times for 595 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Running back Calen Peters (5-10, 190) of Little Rock Mills carried the ball 138 times and totaled 1,344 yards rushing. A Class 5A All-State selection, Peters averaged 9.8 yards per carry and scored 17 touchdowns.
Jesse Simmons (6-4, 295) is three-year letterman on the offensive line from Newport High School. A two-time all-conference selection, Simons totaled 22 tackles including four for lost yardage his senior year.
Additional players from Arkansas that signed with the Reddies include Alex Kennedy (6-1, 205, QB) of Murfreesboro High School, Bryson May (5-10, 218, FB) of Booneville High School, Samuel Mason (6-0, 270, FB/LB) of Genoa Central High School, Jesse Simmons (6-4, 300, DT) of Newport High School, and Rowland Brothers (6-1, 160, K) of Barton High School.
Also joining the Reddies is linebacker Cameron White (6-2, 212) from Fort White Fla.
A two-time all-area and three-time all-district selection, White totaled 86 tackles his senior season while also rushing for 982 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns.
Jeremy Wilson is a talented athlete from Tyler (Texas) High School. An All-East Texas Super Team selection, Wilson rushed for 1,800 yards and totaled 450 receiving yards while scoring 31 touchdowns his senior season.
Defensive back Niko Johnson (5-9, 178) of Cypress Ranch, Texas is one of the best defensive backs in Texas. Johnson was an All-District selection after helping lead his team to a 13-3 record in 2014.
