UCA Track Teams Records Top 5 Finishes at ASU Invitational

ONESBORO, Ark.   University of Central Arkansas sophomore Tanesha Maxwell turned in a second and third-place finish on Friday and the women’s squad won the 4×400 relay at the Arkansas State Invitational indoor meet in at the Convocation Center in Jonesboro. On the men’s side, freshman Corentin Louis finished second in the 3,000 meter run and junior Amos Gerber was second in the 5,000 meters. UCA’s men also won the distance medley.

Maxwell ran a 7.05 for second place in the 55 meters, then turned in a 25.25 in the 200 meter dash to finish third. The 4×400 relay team of Khadijah Smith, Kiara Armstrong, Jean Black and Jordan Chadwick won the event in a time of 3:58.46. Smith, a freshman from White Hall, was third in the 400 meters in a time of 58.57.

Sophomore Kayla Nehus of Little Rock was second in the mile run in a time of 5:12.61, and was also 11th in the 800 meters (2:27.62). Junior Courtney Efurd finished fifth in the 800 meters in 2:22.93, while Jordan Chadwick was 10th (2:27.20). Alex Dortch was fourth in the long jump (18-3.25), while Maya Minter was seventh in the high jump (5.3).

Corentin ran an 8:35.18 for second place in the 3,000 meters, while Ryan Davidson was sixth in 8:56.17. Gerber ran a 15:20.43 for second in the 5,000, with Albert Maeder finishing fourth (15:34.52). The relay team of Louis, Davidson, James Leonard and Arin Natzke ran a 10:36.20 to win the distance medley.

Leonard, a freshman from Crosby, Texas, also finished seventh in the 800 meters (2:02.21), while UCA was sixth in the 4×400 relay with a team of Kelton Ray, Chance Tanner, Dustie Smith and Elvis Stewart (3:24.70). Stewart was also ninth in the long jump (21-1.)

UCA competes next at the Southern Illinois Invitational on Feb. 1-2 in Carbondale, Ill.
