Jeff Long Tweets “THE TRUTH” Raising the Ire of Red Wolves Fans

From Dec. 17, 2012:

As we monitored social media streams for news and developments Sunday afternoon, we noticed our stream blow up with an odd back and forth between Razorback fans and Red Wolves and at least one member of the sporting press regarding a message purportedly from Jeff Long, the athletic director at the University of Arkansas.

Actually, it was @jefflongua quoting a tweet from a Hog fan, then @jefflongua adding his two cents.

The blowback from ASU fans on Twitter has been swift and steady.

ASU system President Dr. Charles Welch tweets:

And we hear back from @jefflongUA

We will continue to add tweets as we see them.

What do you think? Was it a shot? The truth? Appropriate?

Totally classless on the part of Mr. Long. Then again his schools mascot is a pig.

Do you really think Jeff Long did this? C’mon!

There is actually a little patch of mosquito-infested area of the state they can claim.

But at least the NCAA didn’t make UA change the mascot due to a mascot that was very demeaning to an entire race of people…

Three, count ’em, three bowl games EVER, no victories and they get all cocky. Even in a bad year due to a coach who was fired, then turned THEM down, UA had two more wins vs SEC teams than they have ever had.

Even an AS-Who fan surely doesn’t think Jeff Long sent this tweet…

    Classless? Grow up.

Mr. Long is not a permanent fixture in Arkansas. There will be a time when he returns to cooler climes more suited to his nature and rolls in snow rather than pig.

Arkansas State University however….will be here permanently. Get used to it.

Actually Arkansas State has been to 16 bowl game in its history. Including one season where we participated in 2 bowl games prompting a rule change by the NCAA to ensure that it never happened again. ASU also went undefeated in the 80’s and got left out the bowl picture entirely. This forced the creation of what is known as the independence bowl.

Thin skinned!!! Of coarse the tweet came from Jeff Long, what do you expect, he’s the athletic director at the University of Arkansas. He is simply talking smack supporting his team and the guy who tweeted him. Good night, if Arkansas State fans believe themselves relevant then act like it and stop whining like a junior high cheerleader.
