The word is Ravian Pierce, a highly-recruited tight end from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.’s Plantation High School, has committed to play football for the Arkansas Razorbacks. What a way for the Arkansas Razorbacks to march into Florida later this week.

Pierce is a 6-4, 240-pound four-star who had offers from about 20 schools, including Alabama, Ole Miss and Florida, took an official visit to Arkansas last weekend. Reports are he narrowed his schools to Arkansas, Alabama and Florida before making the call to head football coach Bret Bielema to announce his commitment this week.

With Pierce’s selection of the Razorbacks, he becomes the 17th commitment in the 2014 recruiting class and fifth player from talent-rich Florida to choose the Hogs since the arrival of Bielema to Arkansas.

The announcement of the verbal commitment from Pierce now has the Razorbacks in the 26th spot nationally, according to Rivals.

Below are video highlights of Ravian Pierce and and interview with him from earlier this year.

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas football team practiced Wednesday afternoon in continued preparation for its upcoming game against the University of Florida. Defensive coordinator Chris Ash met with the media afterwards and discussed his expectations for the defense against Florida.

“We’ve got to improve every single day,” Ash said. “Every time we go out there, for practice or a game, is a chance to show we’re improving. This next Saturday, I want to see improvement.”

Coach Ash also addressed the play of Alan Turner and the return of Rohan Gaines.

Alan Turner has done a great job in the backfield, had a lot of tackles last week,” Ash said. “Rohan is healthy, he’s getting a lot more reps. It’s a good competition between them throughout the week.”

Kickoff for Saturday’s SEC road contest against Florida at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Fla., is scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
