Forge Named GAC Player of the Week

Senior guard Kori Forge has been named the Great American Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after breaking the league’s single-game scoring record of 36 points in last Monday’s 79-71 non-conference victory over Southwest Baptist at home.

Forge connected on 12-of-19 field goal attempts in the win, including 6-of-12 three-pointers. The Atlanta, Ga. native finalized his career-high scoring total by knocking down 6-of-7 free-throw attempts. Forge also notched a career-high eight assists in the win.

Throughout 10 games this season, Forge is currently leading the Great American Conference in scoring with an average of 22.3 points per game. He is the only scorer in the league with over 200 points to this point with a total of 223.

Forge also leads the league in three-point field goals made with a total of 34 for an average of 3.4 per game. He ranks third in the league with a .830 free-throw percentage, seventh in the league with an average of 1.8 steals per game and second in the league with an average of 34.5 minutes played per game.

Following the holiday break, Forge and the Boll Weevils (6-4, 1-3 GAC) return to Great American Conference action on January 3 against East Central in Ada, Okla.
