SEARCY – Harding football has added three mid-year transfers to its 2016 roster late last year. Joining the Bisons in time for spring practice are Grant Kimberlin, Terrence Williams, Maurice Cole and Cob Summers.
Kimberlin is a 5-foot-10, 175-pound running back/wide receiver from Olive Branch, Mississippi. Williams is a 5-foot-9, 190-pound defensive back from Pacoima, California, and Summers is a 6-foot-2, 270-pound offensive lineman. Kimberlin, Williams and Summers will be juniors at Harding in 2016. Cole is a 6-foot-1, 225-pound defensive end/linebacker from Daphne, Alabama and will have freshman eligibility next season.
Kimberlin is transferring to Harding from Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Mississippi. He was a slot receiver at Itawamba and made 44 receptions for 393 yards and four touchdowns as a sophomore. Kimberlin twice earned Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) All-State honors.
Williams is transferring from Los Angeles Valley College in North Hollywood, California. As a sophomore, he had 33 tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss, and two interceptions. Williams helped lead his team to a 9-2 record and a victory in the Golden State Bowl and earned first-team all-conference as a safety.
Cole last played at Spanish Fort High School in Alabama in 2014. He had 90 tackles, including six sacks, in 14 games. Following his senior season, Cole played for the South team in the Alabama North-South All-Star Football Game. Cole was a member of Spanish Fort’s Alabama Class 6A state championship teams in 2012 and 2013.
Summers spent the last two seasons at Holmes Community College in Goodman, Mississippi, playing both left tackle and center. He was one of nine Holmes players to participate in the MACJC All-Star game on Dec. 5 in Biloxi and won the Colonel Brad MacNealey Leadership Award at Holmes. Summers was a 2014 graduate of DeSoto Central High School in Southaven, where he was Kimberlin’s teammate.
