CONWAY, Ark. – University of Central Arkansas offensive lineman Corey Howard earned two more All-America honors to close out his career in the purple and gray.

Howard was named a first-team Walter Camp Football Foundation FCS All-American on Wednesday to go along with a second-team selection on the Associated Press FCS All-America team late last week. Howard was earlier named to the second team on The Sports Network FCS All-America team.

Howard, from Wichita Falls, Texas, was the 2012 Southland Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year after helping the Bears average 400 yards of total offense per game this season en route to a 9-3 record and a second-round playoff appearance. Howard was a three-year starter for the Bears and played in 46 career games at UCA.

“I’m extremely proud of that young man,’ said UCA head coach Clint Conque. “What an honor to be named to three different All-America teams, and he’s very deserving of all three honors. We asked Corey to do a lot on our offense line the past 3-4 years and he always responded.

“Corey Howard had an outstanding career here at UCA.’

In all, players from nine different conferences and 24 institutions were represented on the 2012 Walter Camp FCS All-America team. Walter Camp, “The Father of American Football,” first selected an All-America team in 1889. Camp, a former Yale University athlete and football coach, is also credited with developing play from scrimmage, set plays, the numerical assessment of goals and tries and the restriction of play to eleven men per side.

The Walter Camp Football Foundation, a New Haven based all-volunteer group, was founded in 1967 to perpetuate the ideals of Camp and to continue the tradition of selecting All-America teams for the Football Bowl and Championship subdivisions.
