HU Baseball Hosts No. 26 Arkansas Tech on Tuesday

SEARCY – Harding baseball will carry a four-game winning streak into a midweek, non-conference matchup against 26th-ranked Arkansas Tech. The Bisons will host the Wonder Boys on Tuesday at Jerry Moore Field at 2 p.m.

Harding (13-4) is coming off a three-game sweep of East Central in Great American Conference play in Searcy. Junior Matt Calhoun paced the Bison offense during the series, going 8-for-10 with three runs, four RBI and a home run. Junior Trent Wooldridge was 6-for-12 with three runs and three RBI.

Harding hit .385 in the series against East Central with 10 or more hits in each game. The Bisons also drew nine walks and were hit by five pitches.

With the strong performance against East Central, Harding’s team batting average moved up to .304, good for fourth in the GAC. The Bisons have an OPS (on-base pct. + slugging pct.) of .775, just below the conference’s OPS of .776.

Arkansas Tech (18-7) had a seven-game winning streak snapped Saturday when Southeastern Oklahoma swept the Wonder Boys 10-1 and 10-2 in a doubleheader in Russellville. The losses were Arkansas Tech’s first in conference play this season.

Despite having only 11 hits in the series against Southeastern Oklahoma, Arkansas Tech has one of the top offenses in the conference. The Wonder Boys have a .313 batting average and an .831 OPS.

Arkansas Tech has won all seven of its road games this season, while Harding is 12-1 at home.
