Pete Roussel of CoachingSearch.com released his “12 Best Football Decisions of 2012” and gave a shout out to Arkansas State University System President Dr. Charles Welch for “hiring the right people.”
Specifically, Roussel said of Welch:
“Welch has been pretty good as of late. He didn’t hesitate to hire Hugh Freeze. He moved quickly to hire Gus Malzahn. In September, Welch hired athletic director Terry Mohajir, who didn’t need a search firm and didn’t hesitate when hiring Bryan Harsin. There is nothing more important that surrounding your organization with the right people. Welch makes it look easy.”
Not on the list was University of Arkansas’ athletic director, Jeff Long, for either firing former head coach Bobby Petrino or snagging Bret Bielema from Wisconsin for the job earlier this month.
