ATHENS, Ga. – University of Arkansas freshman Anna Mayfield broke her own record in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:54.96 while competing at the Bulldog Last Chance meet in Athens, Ga.

Mayfield opened the race with a 27.83 split to put her back in third-place. Mayfield’s consistency would prevail as she passed Tennessee’s Amanda Carner and Auburn’s Sarah Reynolds by the third leg. After taking over the lead, the freshman wouldn’t be undone on the final 50, clocking the fastest split (29.22) as she took down her own school record with a time of 1:54.96.

Sophomore Shana Lim also represented the Razorbacks at the Last Chance Meet where she clocked the third-fastest time in school history in the 100 backstroke with a time of 53.84. Lim came out strong with the fastest opening 50 of the race (25.25) and closed with a split of 28.59, posting an NCAA ‘B’ cut time and the third-fastest qualifying time. Lim was just .18 shy of breaking her school-record time of 53.66 she set in the season-opener against the Georgia Bulldogs. The sophomore currently owns four of the top-five times in school history, as Mayfield owns the fifth-best time (54.16).

Arkansas return to the pool on Thursday, March 7th, as a handful of Razorbacks will participate in the Speedo Sectional Championship in Jenks, Okla.
