Tigersharks Get 2nd and 13th Place Finishes at NCAA Division II Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The 2013 edition of the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships is underway in Birmingham, Alabama, and after the first day of action, the Ouachita Tigersharks have notched a second and a 13th place finish. 

Marcus Schlesinger recorded the second place finish in the 50-Freestyle, recording a time of 19.84 and just barely missing first place. Head Coach Ryan Killackey commented on Schlesinger’s performance, saying, “He swam a perfect race. I couldn’t be more pleased with his swim.”

Later in the evening, the relay team of Schlesinger, Jake McLain, Kody Moffatt and Kenton Scott placed 13th in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:32.20.

The four participants still have a number of events still remaining at the championships. 

Schlesinger will compete in the 100 Butterfly and the 100 Back Stroke.

Moffatt will participate in the 200 Individual Medley, 200 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle.

Scott and McLain will join Schlesinger and Moffatt in the 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay and the 400 Medley Relay.

All of the remaining events will take place over the course of Friday and Saturday.
