CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears added a fourth mid-year football transfer this week in punter Jonathon Harrison.

Harrison, a 6-foot-5, 200-pounder from Belmont, Miss., is transferring to UCA from Northeast Community College in Booneville, Miss.

“He is a quality young man and a tremendous talent,” said UCA head coach Clint Conque. “He’s been very consistent in his first two years in junior college and is just beginning to realize his potential. Jon has a very high ceiling and upside.

“He fills a very important role with the graduation of Kevin Buford. We’re counting on him to make a huge impact in our kicking game along with the return of All-Southland Conference kicker Eddie Camara.”

At Belmont, Harrison was a three-time All-Conference, All-Region and All-State selection as a punter and defensive back. He was originally recruited to Northeast CC as a basketball player.

At NEMCC, Harrison averged 42 yards per punt in 2011 and 41.6 yards in 2012. He was named a NJCAA All-American earlier this month. Harrison had 18 punts downed inside the 20-yard line and led all of junior college football for most of the season.

Harrison was selected to the Mississippi Junior College All-Star Game and was a 2012 Mississippi All-Junior College selection.
