Meet the New Red Wolves Starting QB Adam Kennedy

The Red Wolves depth chart is up and out and the new A-State starting QB is Adam Kennedy.

News broke earlier this year Utah State quarterback Adam Kennedy plans to transfer to Arkansas State University and will be immediately eligible to play for the Red Wolves this fall. As a senior graduating this spring from Utah State, he would have one more year of eligibility remaining, choosing to take that year with the Red Wolves.

HONORS: College Sports Madness WAC Offensive Player of the Week (Dec. 5, 2011); Collegefootballperformance.com Honorable Mention Quarterback of the Week (Dec. 5, 2011).

UTAH STATE: Is very accurate and has a strong arm… Is a better runner than people give him credit for… Has improved a lot during the offseason with his mechanics… Possesses a lot of confidence and has an uncanny ability to make plays.

2011 (JR): Played in eight games, starting the final five after an injury to Chuckie Keeton… Threw for 972 yards in eight games (129.9) on 76-of-110 passing (.691)… Threw 11 touchdowns with only four interceptions… USU was 4-1 in games started by Kennedy with the one loss coming against Ohio in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, 24-23… Posted a passing efficiency of 169.04 in those five-and-a-half games, a mark that would have led the WAC and ranked seventh in FBS, but only played in eight of USU’s 13 games (61.5) and did not meet the minimum requirement of 75 percent participation… Rushed 55 times for 239 yards (29.9 ypg)… Third on the team in total offense with 1,211 yards (151.4 ypg)… Threw for a season-high 255 yards against San Jose State… Had three touchdown passes at New Mexico State leading USU to its seventh win of the season… In five-and-a half games of action, was 72-of-105 (.686) for 926 yards with 11 touchdowns and four interceptions… Averaged 168.3 passing yards in those five-and-a-half games, while also averaging 42.7 rushing yards… Was named the WAC Offensive Player of the Week by College Sports Madness after his come-from-behind thrilling 24-21 win at New Mexico State.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: A first-team all-Valley Conference selection as well as San Joaquin’s MVP in leading the Mustangs to a 7-3 record in 2010, including a 4-1 Valley Conference record and co-North Division Conference champions, on the way to the Associated Student Body Government (ASBG) Bowl Game… Threw for 1,767 yards in 10 games (176.7 ypg) on 153-of-236 passing (.648) with 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions, for an efficiency rating of 141.9… The 64.8 completion percentage ranked sixth in the California Community College Athletic Association, while ranking 15th in pass efficiency and 21st in the total offense (213.5 ypg)… Also had 368 yards rushing on 106 attempts (3.5 ypr) with four touchdowns.

HIGH SCHOOL: Was a first-team all-Delta Valley Conference honoree at Franklin (Calif.) High School, throwing for 1,109 yards in 10 games with eight touchdowns and four interceptions… Also rushed for 413 yards on 94 carries (4.4 ypc) with five touchdowns.

PERSONAL: Born May 5, 1991… Son of Bill and Teresa Kennedy… Has one brother… Majoring in business administration… Chose USU because of the coaching staff.
