Lady Tigers’ GAC Tournament Trip Ended in First Round By East Central

BARTLESVILLE, Okla.- The Ouachita Lady Tigers’ second trip to Bartlesville, Oklahoma wasn’t a very pleasant one, as they faced off with East Central in the quarterfinals, which began Thursday. Ouachita faced a steep halftime deficit, as they entered the locker room trailing by a score of 42-29.

East Central saw a 9-0 run help them jump out to an eight point lead late in the half, and Ouachita just wasn’t able to answer, as they fell behind by 13 at the half after a made three from ECU with just five seconds left in the half.

East Central stretched their lead to 15 to start the second half, but Ouachita’s Lady Tigers answered and cut the lead to just eight minutes later.

11 straight points from ECU gave them a huge 19 point lead though, with 12:28 remaining, which gave them an overwhelming 22 point lead. A rally from Ouachita cut the lead to nine with less than three minutes left to go, but they just couldn’t answer the huge offensive performance from East Central’s Lady Tigers.

East Central led by as many as 22 in the game, with Lindsay McCown leading the way with 19 points and Kodi Morrison recording 16. McCown recorded eight rebounds, while Alycea Price and Regan Browne both grabbed seven.

Ouachita’s Monica Williams closed out her career with a stellar 39 point performance, while Nashia James knocked down 11 points. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to match East Central’s four double-digit scorers.

Williams’ 39 points was a GAC Tournament record, along with her 15 free throws attempted. 

The loss closes out a 17-10 season for Ouachita.
