BETHANY, Okla.- Although it took a late rally, the Ouachita Lady Tigers (9-1, 5-0 GAC) overcame a nine point deficit in Thursday night’s conference match-up against Southern Nazarene (4-7, 1-4 GAC). The OBU Lady Tigers turned the tides after taking the lead and led by as much as eight en route to a 71-64 victory over the Crimson Storm.

The OBU Lady Tigers prolonged their win streak with the victory, making it nine wins in a row, stretching back to November 19.

The Crimson Storm powered through the first half and took a two point lead heading into the break, but it didn’t seem to negatively affect the Lady Tigers, as they bounced back and took the lead just over a minute into the period. A short run by Southern Nazarene resulted in a nine point deficit for Ouachita, but they again rallied, this time taking the lead for good with just over three minutes remaining in the game.

Ouachita’s Monica Williams continued her string of ridiculous performances, recording her fourth double-double of the season in a 19 point, 11 rebound performance. Katherine West had a solid offensive outing, recording 16 points and adding three assists. Nashia James was the only other double-digit scorer for Ouachita, netting 13 points and recording two steals and a block in the game.

Oumoul Thiam led the way for the Crimson Storm, notching a double-double of her own with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Annie Kassongo was a heavy contributor as well, knocking in 14 points, while Kristen Milster added 12 points to her team’s totals.

Ouachita continued to force more turnovers than they commit, forcing 15 in the game while only committing 11. The OBU Lady Tigers only shot 36.6 percent from the floor, but overcame with great defense, holding Southern Nazarene to only 33.9 percent from the floor.

The OBU Lady Tigers look to close out their non-conference schedule with a win on Monday, as they host former Gulf South Conference foe Christian Brothers at noon for School Kids Day at Bill Vining Arena.
