FAYETTEVILLE – While most students were getting ready for the holiday break and wrapping up finals, the University of Arkansas men’s tennis team paired up with Pagnozzi Charities and the Fayetteville Boys and Girls Club to host a tennis clinic for kids of the community.
This is the eighth year that head Coach Robert Cox and his Razorbacks have given out lessons in the Arkansas facilities.
“We just love being able to give back to the community,” Cox said. “Being able to teach the game of tennis to kids that may not be given the opportunity not only expands the interest in our sport, but also leaves many kids with smiles on their faces.”
Thirty-six boys and girls took part in the Kid’s Tennis Day at the Dills Indoor Tennis Center. The kids got one-on-one training from the 12 Arkansas men’s tennis student-athletes, where they taught the basic fundamentals of the tennis game. The Pagnozzi Charities also donated a tennis racket, t-shirt and a gift bag for each child that participated in the clinic.
This was a great experience, for not only the children that took part in the clinic, but it really influenced my guys and made them realize how lucky they were to be given the opportunity to excel in the sport of tennis,” Cox said.
