CHOUDRANT, La. – The UALR men’s golf team moved up one spot in the final day to finish fourth at the Argent Financial Classic at Squire Creek Country Club on Tuesday. The Trojans’ Colby Benton fired a final-round three-under par 69 to finish in seventh place overall with a three-day total of 218 (+2).
Rodolfo Cazaubon of North Texas placed first overall after a final-round 67 ended his tournament at 207 (-9). North Texas also took top honors as a team (859, -5), as Cazaubon was one of three Mean Green golfers to finish the tournament in the top five.
LSU, who was tied with North Texas for the lead after two rounds of play, finished second with a team score of 863 (-1). Louisiana Tech finished third with a three-round team total of 890 (+26).
Sophomore Alfred Kerstis tied for 14th overall after a final-round 74. Kerstis finished 73-74-74 over his three rounds for a five-over par total of 221. Senior Nicklaus Benton placed 22nd after a final-round 74 gave him a three-round total of 224 (+8). Junior Nick Zimmerman finished the tournament with a six-over par 78 for a three-round total of 230 (+14), and Luis Cedeno shot a final-round 80 for a total of 237 (+21).
UALR returns to action when it hosts the UALR/First Tee Collegiate on March 25-26 at Chenal Country Club.
