ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- Despite committing 16 turnovers in the first half, and 26 turnovers over the entirety of Monday afternoon’s contest against the visiting Lady Bucs of Christian Brothers University (3-8), the Ouachita Lady Tigers (10-1) overcame and took a 71-62 win with a 41 point surge in the second half. OBU now boasts a 10 game winning streak, which stretches back to November 19, 2012.

OBU came out slow in the first half and turned the ball over time after time. Christian Brothers took advantage and jumped out to a 32-30 lead at the half behind an 18 point first half from Breanna Ridgell.

It didn’t take long for the Lady Tigers to flex their muscles in the second half though; as they took the lead with 18:42 left in the period and never relented.

Monica Williams led the team with 24 points and seven rebounds, falling just short of her fifth double-double this season. Katherine West posted a 14 point performance just days after posting her career high of 16 against Southern Nazarene. Nashia James was a heavy contributor as well, notching 12 points and five assists while draining five of her six attempts from the floor.

Ridgell’s 18 point performance in the first half was solid, but the Lady Tigers honed in on her in the second half and didn’t let her score. She still led the Lady Bucs with 18 points and four steals though. Samantha Reeves was the only Lady Buc to record a double-digit scoring performance besides Ridgell, posting 12 points in the game.

Much of the reason for Christian Brothers’ second half struggles lay in their shooting percentage, as they only made 33 percent of their shots. They finished the game with a 37.1 percent mark from the floor, compared to the 56.8 percent mark for Ouachita.

Ouachita’s victory over Christian Brothers marks their last non-conference game of the 2012-13 season. They return to Great American Conference play, where they currently hold a 5-0 record, on Thursday, as they play host to the Golden Suns of Arkansas Tech. Tip-off is scheduled at 5:30 p.m.
