Lady Eagles Softball Moves into Top 5

Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The Lady Eagles from Williams Baptist College have jumped two spots in the latest NAIA national poll. The team moved up from seventh to fifth when the rankings came out Tuesday afternoon.

Williams is in middle of a 21 game win streak and have an overall season record of 23-1 and 6-0 in the American Midwest Conference. The only loss came in extra innings against Blue Mountain College. WBC is outscoring its opponents 184-to-25 for a run differential of 159.

The Lady Eagle’s pitching and defense is holding opposing teams to a .151 batting average and the team’s earned run average sits at .87. Those stats ranked second and third nationally.

Williams will jump back on the field on Friday, March 29, for a doubleheader against Freed-Hardeman University at the Lady Eagle softball field in Walnut Ridge. FHU is ranked 22nd in the latest poll. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
