MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Hendrix College men’s lacrosse team suffered their first Southern Athletic Association defeat of the season to Berry College, falling 12-5 on Sunday afternoon.
The Warriors (5-6, 3-1) led 4-0 after the first quarter, but the host Vikings (8-4, 3-1) scored 10 unanswered goals before Hendrix made the game 10-5 in fourth quarter.
Sophomore midfielder Cameron Millstone scored three goals and an assist for Hendrix and picked up 10 ground balls. Freshmen Zachary Baier and Travis Rabun recorded the Warriors’ other two goals. Rabun also had an assist and recorded three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Baier assisted two scores. Freshman Joe Takacs stopped 16 shots in goal to go with six ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Nat Morey and Blake Gwizdalski led Berry with two goals and two assists each. Kyle Lombardi had a goal, two assists and five ground balls. Bryan Byers had two goals, an assist and five ground balls as well. Keeper Jordan Boreman recorded 15 saves.
Berry had a 36-29 advantage in ground balls and outshot Hendrix 47-31.
Hendrix will travel to Birmingham-Southern College on Saturday for another SAA game.
