After winning a double-header a day earlier, Henderson State lost a twinbill to Southern Arkansas 3-0 and 10-5 on Saturday in Magnolia, Ark.

Henderson State, 15-17 overall and 9-7 in the Great American Conference, managed just three hits off of SAU pitcher Hanna Gill in the opener.

SAU, 16-14 and 8-6 on the year, got a solo home run from Sarah Higginbotham and a two-run blast by Kelci Garza.

The finale of the series began well for Henderson State as the Lady Reddies took a 5-0 lead as Laura Mabary provided a two-run single in the second-inning along with run-scoring singles by Morgan South and Shelbie Palmore.

Southern Arkansas cut the deficit to 5-4 in the third-inning. With two-outs, the Lady Muleriders loaded the bases with all three batters being hit by a pitch. Garza then cleared the bases with a grand slam.

SAU then scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth by putting together five straight hits.

Sarah Gipson had three hits on the day, while Hali Kizer, Kayla Williams, South, and Mabary had two hits each.

Henderson State will next play host to Northwestern Oklahoma State in a four-game GAC series beginning with a double-header on Friday beginning at 1 p.m. at Dee White Field.
