NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The UALR swimming and diving team saw wins in the 50 free and 200 freestyle relay, but it was not enough as the Trojans fell to Vanderbilt 145-86 Saturday (Feb. 2) in Nashville, Tenn.
Freshman Valeriya Teplova won the fastest event in swimming with a time of 24.68, nearly a second faster than her nearest competitor. She was also a member of the winning 200 free relay team. The quartet of Teplova, junior Kara Raney and seniors Amber Kelly and Rebecca McEachern touched the wall in 1:40.23.
Other top performers include Raney finishing second in the 100 back with a time of 59.99. Junior Holly Myers took second in the 200 back with a time of 2:15.28 while sophomore Meghan Petersen clocked in at 2:42.11 to take runner-up honors in the 200 breastroke.
Kelly took a pair of seconds in the 100 butterfly (58.55) and the 200 IM (58.55).
UALR swimming and diving finishes the regular season when it travels to Rockwall, Texas for the 2013 Sun Belt Conference Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 27-March 2.
