Reddies Lose Home Opener to Arkansas Tech 9-3

Arkansas Tech spoiled Henderson State’s home opener as the Wonder Boys beat the Reddies 9-3 in a non-conference game, Tuesday at Clyde Berry Field in Arkadelphia, Ark.

The Wonder Boys, 10-4 on the season, banged out 14 hits including three hits by Zac Johnson, and two hits each by Cole Fergus, Josh Johnson, and Jonathan Finnegan.

Finnegan also had three RBI to go along with a triple and a home run.

Tadarius Hawkins and Dustin Hudson had two hits each for the Reddies. Hawkins, Hudson, Michael Corso and Austin Coble all had doubles, with Coble driving in two runs.

ATU’s Danny Parker pitched five innings, striking out eight Henderson batters to pick up the win and improve to 2-0.

In his first appearance of the year, Ethan Jones pitched three innings, surrendering nine hits and five runs.

The Reddies, 6-2 on the year, will play host to East Central Oklahoma in a three-game Great American Conference series beginning with a single 9-inning game on Friday at 2 p.m. with a double-header scheduled for Saturday at Noon.
